RedTeam Case Studies - P2P Breach Remediation |
|
Names have been removed, and locations have been generalized in order to maintain responsible disclosure. Every alert listed in this area was provided by RedTeam, free of charge. The breaches and exposures you will find were discovered on P2P networks. All case studies are a result of inadvertent file sharing. This occurs when the end user shares either the "my documents" folder, or C:, by mistake. Normally the "my music" folder is shared. The responsible party may also have chosen to "scan drive for media", not knowing that media consists of every file on the drive. RedTeam continuously monitors the web, including P2P networks, in search of inadvertently published proprietary information. Through years of experience, we are able to locate and neutralize the source of the breach, sometimes within seconds. We have located over 10,000 information security exposures over Peer to Peer file sharing networks. Programs such as Limewire, Kazaa, Bearshare, and Shareazza, have little or no controls in place to prevent the accidental disclosure The breaches you will read about in this section are only a small portion of what we have found. RedTeam has done its best to create sections based not only on the infrastructure of the United States, but also, to address issues dealing with global security. |
