Data breaches within the defense sector go beyond personal privacy rights, and become a matter of life and death. We have located hundreds of breaches originating from government contractors. While much attention has been made to P2P breaches, especially in congress, little or no changes are being made to prevent inadvertent disclosure. 

Large Defense Contractor Loses Government Cryptological Development Records.

National defense contractor leaks out cryptographic NSA development data onto the gnutella file sharing network. Although the facility was deemed "secure and cleared", the P2P program was successfully installed on a computer at the facility. Redteam traced the IP back to the headquarters of the responsible party, and advised removal of the P2P 
application. 

US Defense Contractor Loses Iraqi Police Intel

A large US defense contractor published 1,420 files onto the gnutella P2P networks dealing with training and intelligence reports with regard to the Iraqi police, in conjunction with Operation Iraqi Freedom. We provided the corporation with the source of the breach, and the data was removed from the gnutella network. 

Major Chemical Manufacturer

The IT security specialist for a major chemical manufacturer published 595 confidential files including disaster recovery plans, and internal data security procedures. RedTeam 
contacted the CISO and had the documents removed from the P2P networks.
