RedTeam located and neutralized the transmission of confidential health related information from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The breach was disclosed under the Canadian version of The Freedom of Information Act. We have noticed that Canada, compared to the United States, has stricter requirements to report data breaches in a timely manner. In the US, while 39 states have mandatory notification laws, they do not apply to government.
Government of Newfoundland Case Study 1) RedTeam stops the transmission of AIDS/HIV records over the P2P networks (Article Here) 2) RedTeam stops the transmission of Workers Compensation records over the P2P networks (Article Here) Middle Eastern Government Run Energy Corporation A large middle east government owned energy producer, leaked out 4,289 confidential files dealing with safety and security protocols. The responsible party was the head of fire safety, who leaked confidential meeting minutes with the head of security. Most files were infrastructure related documents. Canadian Intelligence Breach A captain of a provincial intelligence division in Canada, published 4,399 confidential files onto the p2p file sharing networks. The files contained confidential intelligence reports and internal operational plans. We reached out to our Canadian contacts, and the p2p application was promptly removed. Overseas Ministry of Finance The Director of Procurement for an overseas Ministry of Finance published 3,175
confidential files onto the Gnutella network. The embassy was contacted and provided International Police Officer An international police officer published 1,272 confidential internal files onto the P2P networks. Included were reports of ongoing investigations, in addition to security procedures and dignitary protection itineraries. RedTeam contacted the organization and stopped the exposure. Asia Based Police Chief The chief of police of a highly populated Asian city published 690 confidential active
case files onto the Gnutella file sharing network. The responsible party was notified, and African Presidential Protection Unit An employee of a presidential protection unit in Africa, published 2,298 files onto the
gnutella file sharing network, including intelligence reports regarding child soldiers and |
